Despite some illnesses going around in August, Waverly Grade School had 85% of our PreK-5th grade students that had 90% or better attendance! 🎉 Regular attendance helps our Bullpups build strong reading skills and stay on track for success. This month, in our Character Strong social emotional curriculum, we are focusing on Respect! Our Kindergarteners made cards to show kindness towards others as part of their lesson today. **Door of Distinction!** Today, we recognize a student who consistently goes above and beyond. Recently, while a teacher was sweeping the rocks from the sidewalk, this student asked to help. When told it was okay to go play, he insisted on lending a hand. His thoughtfulness, respect, and friendly attitude toward everyone truly stands out. That student is... Brogan! WHS and WJH FBLA students attended the BOE meeting this evening. WHS Vice President Allie Stukey spoke to the BOE asking for permission to attend a leadership conference in OKC. The WJH students were present to answer questions about the proposed bylaws for their new chapter. #itsagreatdaytobeabulldog!

We are ready to play at the State Fair!!

Tomorrow, Monday 9/09, is a Late Start. Doors open at 9:30a, and classes begin at 10a. Daycare (7a) and PreK (7:55 a) will operate as usual, with breakfast provided for both. #itsagreatdaytobeabulldog

Don't forget that tomorrow, Monday, September 9th, is a Late Start Day. Our the doors at WJH/HS will open at 9:30 and class will start at 10am. We will have breakfast available for students when they get to school if they need to eat!!

We are excited to celebrate another Door of Distinction nominee! This student comes to school every day ready to learn, always doing his best and sharing his knowledge with the class. His positive attitude and kindness brighten the room and inspire those around him. His teacher says, "He loves to help others, makes friends easily, and brings a smile to my face every day." We are thrilled to announce our latest nominee for the Door of Distinction! This student truly deserves this recognition for always doing the right thing and being a positive role model. Her teachers and classmates can always count on her to help out whenever needed. She’s patient, kind, and understanding with everyone she meets, making her a wonderful leader and example for all. Her teacher says, "She is always willing to help anyone, both teachers and students. She really is a great role model and leader for her classmates and those younger than her." Just some reminders about the state fair trip tomorrow! Due to a hiccup with our tshirts, we need everyone who has a Lebo-Waverly marching shirt from past years to make sure they wear it tomorrow!! Anyone who does not have this shirt will receive a plain gray shirt for tomorrow's performance.

Thank you to the East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging for helping us celebrate Grandparents Day at Waverly Grade School! 🎉 They provided a fun activity and treat for our students and their grandparents or grandbuddies. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2nd Annual Fall Bulldog Blitz earlier this week! 🐾 Our high school athletes in football, volleyball, cross country, and dance/cheer continue to inspire our younger students, showing them what hard work, dedication, and teamwork look like. It's Game Day for our HS Football Team who take on Cornerstone Christian Academy, with kick off at 7pm. If you are attending the address is 1470 N. 1000 Rd, Lawerence KS. The field is located behind the Lawrence First Church of the Nazarene. #itsagreatdaytobeabulldog

Tomorrow night at half time of our home JH FB Game we are welcoming Stories Dance Company out of LeRoy to preform. One of their students is also one of our JH kids and will be performing a solo routine tomorrow night. Please come out and support them.
