As we move into September, I want to extend a warm welcome to all new families who have joined our USD 243 community this year. We hope your transition has been smooth and that you are starting to feel at home in our district. Welcoming New Families and Staff:
We are delighted to welcome new families to our district and introduce our new staff members:

Waverly Grade School: Katelyn Dunn has joined as our new Daycare Director, and Stephanie Stone is contributing her culinary skills in the kitchen. Our thanks to Jayla Cochran, Abigail Risch, and August Ford for enhancing our school’s environment with their artwork .
Lebo Schools: New staff members include Janine Dorr and Anita Cummings in Special Education, Jolene Vannocker and Sandy Griffith as Paraprofessionals, Jaci Vannocker in 4th Grade, Aaron Hunt in JH/HS Science, and Jadin Crouch as a Long-Term Substitute for Preschool .

Building and Program Updates:

Lebo Schools: We’ve made several improvements over the summer, including new paint and carpeting in office spaces and the library. New furniture for the library is on its way, enhancing our students’ learning environment .
Waverly Junior High & High School: We have revamped our 4th-hour program to better focus on student goals through CAP, BSEL, and Math Interventions, ensuring a well-rounded approach to education .

Upcoming Events:

Labor Day: Reminder that there is no school on September 2nd.
School Board Meeting: Scheduled for September 9th at 7 PM. We encourage community members to attend to stay informed about district decisions.
Fall Sports and Activities: The fall sports season is underway with various activities planned. Keep an eye on our website and social media for game schedules and updates.

Highlights from August:
We had a fantastic start to the school year with several successful events:

Back to School Nights: Both Waverly and Lebo schools hosted engaging events to kick off the new school year, with great participation from families and staff.
Student Achievements: Congratulations to all students who excelled in summer activities and competitions, including those who represented us at national events like FCCLA Nationals and Girls State  .

Community Involvement:
We are grateful for the strong community involvement at events like “Popsicles on the Playground” and the various school supply drives that have supported our students. Your contributions help us build a nurturing and supportive environment for all.
